Throw Back Thursday – Luke’s solo venture

Steve Lukather ventures out on his own preforming at Night Moves in Huntington Beach, CA in 1989 in support of his first solo album “Lukather.”

Background: While on a break from the L.A. rock band Toto, lead guitarist Steve Lukather recorded is first solo album Lukather. To promote his first project Luke performed at few small clubs around southern California.

At Night Moves in Huntington Beach, CA I managed to get bring my cameras in to the club and was able to get a few decent shots in a very low-lit venue.

I shot on Kodak Tri-X, or possibly T-MAX film, pushed to 3200 ASA (now ISO). The camera was a Nikon F3 HP, lens Nikor 180 f2.8ED. The shutter speed was probably 1/125 or 1/60 with an aperture of f/2.8.

Shooting this gig helped me establish a great friendship the head of the Toto Legend (which was Toto’s official fan club at that them time) and would lead to capturing photos I only dreamed about. I’ll be posting some those down the road.
